SAGS HOSTS JOINT SEMINARIES COMMISSION MEETING
The community of St. Albert the Great Major Seminary, Idowu-Offonran, joyfully hosted the Joint Seminaries Commission Meeting on the 21st and 22nd of October 2025. The gathering brought together Archbishops, Bishops, Rectors, Directors, and other principal officers from the Major and Spiritual Year Seminaries across the Benin, Ibadan, and Lagos Ecclesiastical Provinces. The aim of the meeting was to strengthen collaboration in the formation of priests after the heart of Christ.
On Wednesday, October 22, participants joined the Seminary community for a solemn Mass celebrated in the Seminary Chapel. The Mass was presided over by Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, Archbishop of Lagos, and concelebrated by Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, Bishop of Oyo, and Most Rev. Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo, Bishop of Abeokuta, Most Rev. Anthony Ewherido, Bishop of Warri, Most Rev. John Akin Oyejola, Bishop of Osogbo, and Most Rev. Anselm Pendo Lawani, Bishop of Ilorin.
In his homily, Most Rev. John Akin Oyejola, encouraged the formators to remain steadfast in their sacred duty of forming young men for the sacred priesthood. He urged seminarians to be open to the process of formation, reminding them that the Holy Spirit speaks through their formators. The Bishop also appreciated the Seminary staff for their tireless contributions to priestly formation.
Other priests present include Rev. Fr. Anthony Omolade, representing the Archbishop of Ibadan; Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Ekhaisomi, representing the Archbishop of Benin City; Very Rev. Fr. Kelvin Fakehinde, representing the Bishop of Ekiti; and Very Rev. Fr. Jude Marie Ezinche, representing the Bishop of Ijebu-Ode.
Also in attendance were Rev. Fr. Anthony Igbekele, Rector of Ss. Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija-Ibadan; Very Rev. Fr. Matthew Ihenseken, Rector of All Saints Major Seminary, Uhiele; Very Rev. Fr. Peter Ehinmisan, Director of St. Peter the Apostle Spiritual Year Seminary, Eruku; and Very Rev. Fr. Leonard A., Director of St. John of the Cross Spiritual Year Seminary, Ekpoma, including other principal officers of various seminaries.
